CBT for Insomnia (CBTi)

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is a research-backed treatment for adults with difficulty sleeping.

CBT involves learning how thoughts, behaviors, and emotions are linked:

Insomnia is difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, or awakening too early. This becomes a disorder when it happens for a long period of time and gets in the way of someone's day-to-day/home, school/work, or social life or causes significant distress.

CBTi is a brief, manualized treatment that helps someone change their thinking and behaviors that are leading to poor sleep quality. Sleep is so important to us, CBTi has even been used as a treatment for veterans experiencing suicidal thinking.

People often experience trouble sleeping for years, think it is just "who they are," and they might be dependent on sleeping medications. For someone ready to make a change, they will be amazed to find how simple the skills are for improving sleep. To find success, it is important to stick with the plan, even if some of it seems counter-intuitive. CBTi is actually one of the most successful psychology treatments.
